41 years ago my first child was severely asphyxiated at birth. She spent 35 days in the neonatal intensive care unit. Upon release she was diagnosed as being so brain damaged that she was unable to suck, swallow and breathe at the same time. They showed us cat scans of the brain damage. She was sent home on a feeding tube. Fortunately I was referred to a speech pathologist at Easter Seals who told me to breastfeed her, which I was able to do after a few weeks. The pathologist also referred me to another speech pathologist who was a specialist in early infant development. That speech pathologist worked with my baby twice a week for a year, doing physical exercises to keep her on track developmentally. Today that child has a Masters degree from Carnegie Mellon Univ. I used the same physical therapy exercises on my subsequent two children and one has a masters degree and the other is an autodidact with a high level software job. I am so grateful to that speech pathologist who changed all of our lives. It sounds like Ms. Murray is doing similar work. Bravo!

To heal is to regenerate: creating oneself afresh. Which goes way beyond philosophical rumination – it covers seeking to understand the foundations of our being: physic, psyche, spiritual, social, emotional. The works. (Neurology recapitulates physiology). But understanding is merely a prelude to action. And action means re-scripting one’s habits and attitudes. These things don’t just change overnight – after all, Rome wasn’t burnt in a day.

I’ve invested much of my time and energy over the years working as a healer of physic and psyche. As a therapist my focus has been on chronic, complex and ageing-related health issues (basically 21c lifestyle diseases). My clients frequently turn to me for help after conservative therapy or traditional approaches have failed to adequately resolve their issues re health, fitness or functionality.

What’s my secret sauce?

In brief, my training is in both Western & Eastern biomedicine.

I am a health professional (MAppSc Exercise Physiology) with extensive experience in the fields of physical therapy and ergonomics. My background in the Western health sciences is complemented by some 40+ years as a practitioner and teacher of Eastern mind-body therapies, martial arts, and alternate healing modalities. Drawing upon these, I have developed a unique integrative modality – Kinergy (aka Kinergetix) - that embodies a wholistic approach to health optimisation.

Kinergy programs go way beyond symptom and pain management – they’re about fostering physical, mental and spiritual development. They’re about enabling people to gain control of and master their health, faculties and life. They're about personal evolution.

We need more of this. The world needs more of this.

Loretta - thank you for reading and responding. Your vote of confidence and affirmation comes at a time when i'm feeling particularly embattled in dealing with the establishment (and questioning the wisdom at the age of 77 of banging my head against the wall for so many years).

Loretta's avatar

I totally get ya. I am 70 and thought my 'wisdom' would be appreciated. Ha, what a whammy I got. I have always loved the eastern countries ways because they seem to respect any advise or knowledge an older person could give, to ease the way for the newbies.

I guess I don't come across very wordy. I just state a fact and wait for questions for explanations or input. But nothing but blank stares. I swear to God, it's as if someone made mush out of peoples brains. Sad to watch.

Anyway, you are a joy to read and 'I' love filling my mind with information of all sorts. Then I have things to stew over and think on. That's what I love doing while gardening or other chores. What you are doing is fascinating and way beyond the plane old PT structure. (believe me, i have a husband who does much pt at va clinics to examine the drone-ism of what does not work. but they get their pay check. what a sad existence)

So thank you for loving your career enough to think out of the box.

Loretta, congrats on surviving (and obviously thriving) the perils & pitfalls, the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune for 7 decades.

But of course, it’s not about merely surviving or enduring or coping, or even about winning or losing; it’s about is-ing, was-ing, will-ing … viz be-ing. For me, it’s a divine process — transmogrification — the alchemy of “ching > chi > shen” (pardon my Daoism).

Re the rest of humanity: the path of individuation, of personal evolution leads away from the herd, from being heard (let alone understood). One of the (few) benefits of age + experience, is the recognition of how truly simple things are. So yes, i’ve become evermore, a simpleton. The experts and critics squabble about the petty details without having any conception of substance or essence.

To quote the illustrious Boddhi Da Mo (Sardili)

“Others are revolted, I am unmoved,

Gripped by desires, I am unmoved,

Hearing the wisdom of sages, I am unmoved,

I move only in my own way.”

Your work has not been in vain, nor is unappreciated. I thank you.

Are you questioning the wisdom of banging your head, or frustrated at the lack of responsiveness? When I began, I thought that effectiveness would persuade, would win the hearts and minds. En masse, if you please.

But that's not how the world works, or how minds are reached. I think it's now bit by bit, one person at a time. The oil/insurance/allopathic/financial vortex has everybody's default attention, but perhaps some will glance sideways at acquaintance's progress and wonder.

As Dag Hammerskjold said (some 70+ years ago when he was the head of the UN), to reach and assist a single soul in any meaningful capacity was worth more than dealing with the masses. I've forgotten his exact words, but the message is clear. Anyway, that's what my wife and i do.

Our reach is limited, but through our efforts we've had a profound impact on the lives of quite a few hundred people. Mind you, the fact that we've been ignored by the powers that be, and thus are invisible, has kept us out of the limelight. That anonymity has enabled us to pursue our activities without interference. Indeed, there is much to be said for hiding one's light under a bushel.

My (one and only) teacher / mentor advised me to focus my efforts on reaching and awakening the teachers ... so that's my intent at this stage of my life.

Fortunately, and by the grace of heaven, i have been blessed to share these past 17 years with a woman (my wife) who is exceptionally gifted, clear and pure. A soul of great integrity. She helps keep me on track ... as i said to her when we conjoined forces "i'm a loose cannon, so be careful where you point me".

I think a theif came in the night and stold a lot of the peoples brain energy.

Just my opinion.

The one by one method is exhausting and at my age, I feel maybe mother earth is going to have to deal with it all. Not my monkey anymore. Get along, move along kind of an attitude. It sounds so flippant but years ago I would have worked my ass off to find a way to sell you something. Not now.

I've always said that working at this level -- as Kinergetix does, and from what I hear, quite effectively -- will help to save the world. Enables robust mental health, that we can be who we were meant to be.

David B Labuschagne's avatar

Thank you for your kind words. Much of the challenge we face is saving people from themselves. But first, they've got to want that.

Offline permentantly due to AI's avatar

You're the only one I haven't subscribed from for using AI pictures. But everytime I try to read your very interesting looking posts, I can't read past them, or the AI parts of the writings. 😔 is there a way I can request a non-AI version?

Thank you immensely for this essay/interview. I’ve been looking for answers outside mainstream modalities / pharmaceuticals being of the holistic mindset. My life of 60+yrs has been one big ball of stress, to put it simply. For starters, I was born via emergency cesarean section. I had a younger sibling severely mentally & physically handicapped who I helped care for. Then at 10yrs old I witnessed my alcoholic father commit suicide. I could list a whole lot more, but the point is made…lots of trauma in the foundational years. I’ll say that my entire life has been affected by so much dysfunction it’s a miracle I am who and where I am today, for which I give God all the glory!

I identify with so many of the life paralyzing issues spoken about in this essay. Have done the usual talk therapy in years past with some success, but believe there is a better way to achieve true breakthrough & healing. I’ve read a plethora of writings, and actually looked into other sources of non-mainstream help, only to be left with continued searching. After reading this essay and perusing Ms Murray’s website, her method genuinely makes sense to me. I’ll definitely reach out to her for more information. Thank you again for bringing this to light! God bless you!

There's an axiom in this field, that those who struggle the most, get the biggest gains. I'd say you certainly qualify for that. I look forward to hearing from you.

Lisa's avatar

I tend to believe that, too.

I’d like to schedule a consultation with you, but the link on your website returned a “page can’t be found” error. Is there an alternate way to do this?

Thank you

Ruth's avatar

Eek! So sorry. I will see if we can't get that fixed. In the meantime, email me at movementsolutions@outlook.com

Will do, thank you !

Add to the list: Dr. Fred Carrick, Dr. Robert Melillo, Dr. Monika Buerger.

The Brain Balance program works similar to this also.

It is fantastic therapy with great successes!

Ruth's avatar

There's tons of people who work different but related programs; Brain Balance is one of them. I have twelve that I use either solely or interwoven in one session; each has their particular way of looking at and addressing problems. Other highly useful disciplines in which people train are Brain Gym, Rhythmic Movement Training, and Masgutova Method (MNRI).

I was quite moved reading about the successes Ruth has witnessed. Thanks for sharing! I'll be passing this along to therapists and clinicians who would find it fascinating and valuable.
