I know we're not related...at least I don't think so....but I don't get many chances to introduce myself to another Mike/Michael Ivy/Ivey. So just wanted to say hi Michael! I'm Michael B Ivy.
Hey Mike -- greetings! Yeah, I remember doing a search for my name some 20 years ago at some "find anybody" website and being amazed that about 8-10 other Michael Iveys came up!
Also interesting that my father's family name was spelled 'Ivy' back in the early part of the 20th Century, but one of my father's siblings convinced the family that there should be an 'e' in it. Our immediate heritage is from north-central Texas (I'm a Texan now living in Asheville, NC) but the progenitor of the name came to Texas from Alabama after the Civil War. (He was in 17 engagements and lived!) I understand that there's an "Ivey Chapel" somewhere in northern Alabama.
I haven't traced my family line back too far. I know that 4-5 generations ago, the Ivy family I belong to lived in Kentucky. I'm 66 now.
There was a major league baseball player with the same name but he spelled his last name Ivie. Mike Ivie played for the San Diego Padres, among others. I didn't know there were so many ways to spell Ivy/Ivey/Ivie.
This is going to sound a little crazy to some of your readers, maybe not so crazy to others. I am a paid subscriber. I want to pay more.
Each time I discover something new in your Substack files, I am just so damn delighted! I feel I have opened a gift that I didn’t even know I wanted or needed. Upon opening, I feel this strange sense of relief that I finally have it in my hands! Your audible interviews, book summaries with Q and A’s, thoughtful articles, series, books… your choices, your voice, the words! Please don’t stop.
I'm hoping that your new summaries aren't labor-intensive, but I have no way of knowing. If it is simple enough to do, a listing of book summaries by date of publication would be very interesting. It's always enlightening to see "new" ideas that were discussed a century or more in the past...
I just subscribed and want to read some of the book summaries on my phone, but nothing I do is getting me there. When I do a search of the book title, it just brings me to random stuff, not a book summary. Please help!
Three more that I’d recommend for the book summaries page are:
1. AIDS, Opium Diamonds and Empire: The Deadly Virus of International Greed (2010) by Dr. Nancy Turner Banks
2. Shots Fired: Vaccine Weapons, Medical Tyranny and the War Against Humanity by Shannon Rowan
3. The Red Shoes: Our Devil’s Dance with Technology and How We Can Stop It by Shannon Rowan

I was gifted a subscription for a month, but can't figure out how to accept the gift. Can you help?
