From my understanding it is at the state level. I’m trying to opt out in my state but so far no one’s gotten back to me. You can apply for a new drivers license without the donor designation but still need to get off the registry at state level is how I understand it.
I'm in Australia and this seems to be the place to start: just search 'how to opt out of organ donation' then include your state and it should come up with instructions on how you can remove yourself from this list.
Also, I can't remember the source now but I remember reading (I do SO much reading) not long back that most harvested organs somehow make their way to Israel. I'd be interested in anyone confirming whether this is true or not.

I am starting to get loud about this. It's the classic example of a slippery slope. In Canada, they now "offer" assisted suicide to unhappy people going through a tough time. Evil.
That's so scary ! They would have been glad to "assist" me during the years I was waiting to have my lower spine fused, makes me wonder how many they kill for having mercury poisoning, hypoglycemia, or other conditions that cause mental distress.

Oh, I forgot - psychiatrists and psychologists fees for "finding" eligible victims for ghoulish mutilation. Female genital mutilation is illegal - body organ harvesting verges on commercial necrophilia. And I say that from a personal ethical perspective - NOT from any sense of religious dogma.

Your brain can and does go onto deep hibernation for months at times to divert energy for needed body repairs. I've seen it happen far too many times when families say NO organ stealing (harvesting) and stand their ground to the pressure applied hourly! I debated ethicists at university on this issue. They could never give a reasonable explanation why this particular euthanasia technique is OK in Western countries but not in China. And they never swayed my views no matter how hard they tried. Also debated 'Organ Procurement Officers', they don't like being called Harvest Organizers. Hmmm...go figure.

Very, very concerned as I’m an organ donor, too. The only thing that may save me is the fact that I’m nearly 70 and the vultures prefer young people around the 30 year mark.
