NZ generation is hydro dominate, with thermal plant typically making up only 10-20% of the supply. The total generation is about 44TWh a year (AUS is over 270TWh), of which hydro is about 60% (entire domestic consumption). The balance is made up of a low density energy sources, gas and coal.
