I scrolled right down to the 6 year old. What an excellent explanation. I know of a few fake diseases, because one doctor years ago, who treated my then-mother-in-law, told me that osteoporosis does not exist. He said it was caused by taking meds that make the bones brittle, like my MiL did. I also know about the vitD scam, thanks to people like you. I read all articles I could find on vitamins and found, that what you buy in bottles is not what the vitamin is for real. And that they don't work unless the vitamin is surrounded by the food it sits in. And that lots of meds make the illness' worse. The very few times I go to the doc, I try to be well-informed, so the doc can not talk me under the table. Good advise to everyone. Make sure you know what the doc prescribed you before ingesting it.
I drive my current doc crazy! He has to put in his computer "Offered covid vaccine but patient says she will give it a think". I get a good laugh, because I'm not going to consider his offer!
"SOMEONE" is monitoring his offers and my refusals somewhere!
Years ago at the former doc's office, the nurse asked if I wanted a mammogram, a colonoscopy....and when I said no she answered, well we have to ask but I work here and I don't do any of it. So that was that - an honest nurse. The doc retired a few years ago, and I changed docs offices.
I strongly suspect that if Americans stopped buying & eating processed foods, etc.; and switched to organic whole foods AND engaged in manual labor, that they'd be fit and healthy. Eating organic healthy whole foods is cheap and easy IF you live in an area where you have a sunny yard. I forage wild greens which grow here (purslane, lambs quarters, dandelion leaves, broad leafed plantain, and violet leaves). From my garden I get arugula, and sweet potato leaves plus the tomatoes, peppers, squash, okra, etc. . Cheap, organic, and delicious. For your health & wallet, learn to forage and grow a garden.
Read the label on any processed or manufactured food: Yikes! that stuff will kill you. No wonder Americans are obese and chronically ill.
Now that I'm required to visit a medical centre annually (for drivers' licence over age 75) the only apt description I can find for what I experience there is...new and used car lot.

They say one can prevent osteoporosis with weight training. From experience, I can vouch for the Truth of what they say.
