Trump attacked Iran because he knew they didn’t have nuclear weapons and weren’t planning on making any. The USA never attacks nuclear armed states. Just look at how things have changed with North Korea since they acquired nuclear weapons. Not only are they safer, but we also don’t get all the anti North Korean propaganda anymore. Looks to me like Iran needs nuclear weapons for the simple goal of stopping attacks against it by the USA and Israel. As a strategic deterrent, they work better than anything else, as history shows. If trump thought that Iran had nuclear weapons, he would not have got involved with attacking them. The zionists would likely never have attacked them in the first place.
I think what Donald trump has shown the world is that Iran requires nuclear weapons for their own survival and immunity from attacks. Many other non-nuclear states are likely thinking the same thing about their own countries.
The US is the aggressor and Israel is its proxy. Anything that deviates from that statement is propaganda.
It has been a US policy goal since 1979 for regime change in Iran. I think that is what we have witnessed: an attempt at decapitation using military strikes and activating CIA/Mossad assets within Iran for sabotage and destabilization.
This attempt by the US/Israel failed. Iran's successful strikes inside Israel demonstrated that Israel's missile defense systems ("Iron Dome" etc.) didn't live up to the advertising. This puts Netanyahu in serious political trouble. A solid argument can be made that if regime change is going to happen, it's in Israel where it will happen. The meaning of Trump's cease fire, is really to save Netanyahu's ass.
So, let me get this straight: Iran has spent hundreds of ($) billions on civilian nukes and been subjected to sanctions costing them additional hundreds of ($) billions for non-fossil power and medicine? That’s like paying a million dollars ($) for a dairy cow and saying it’s because you like milk!

Strange that James Corbett's essay refers to "Gog and Magog". This has relived a childhood memory (70 years ago) when I first confronted the mysterious effigies of Gog and Magog - where? In the Royal Arcade in Melbourne, Australia.

I see that in my own family.

It's purported "rouge" status is to obscure that serves US imperial goals. It is completely dependent on the US. If Israel ceased to be of use to US imperialism, it would soon cease to be.
