My husband is a psychology professor and as I read him your article ( which is impressive in its depth and width ) he could not agree with you more . Very well done .
Strong, necessary piece. You lay out cleanly how the “chemical imbalance” story was never established science, yet was sold to patients as settled fact for decades—undermining informed consent and locking people into a self-reinforcing drug loop. What stands out is how institutional usefulness, not evidence, kept the myth alive.
This fits directly with what I traced in Psychiatry Horrors — the emergence of psychiatry as a profession by shifting diagnosis from priests and judges to doctors, claiming authority over inner life without objective biological markers. Same priesthood, new robes.
You did a solid job separating “some drugs may help some people” from the deeper issue: patients were misinformed about what was known, what wasn’t, and why they were being treated.
This is actually a description of the common template for most unnecessary pharmacological products making corporation profits today. Basically ask “Is this symptom [insert here] a [insert drug name] a [drug name] deficiency? The human soul dealing with the trials of living has been ignored too long. There are solutions for these, but they require one to seek to heal themselves.
Depressing read. I am half joking. I am on sertraline, and have been for 20 years. I have tried to get off, with varied results. I am trying again, and am tapering down. So far, so good.
My niece had always been a very talented artist, until a psychiatrist announced that she was bipolar, and prescribed her with Lithium. I've been working on her understanding of psychiatry with articles from Jerry Marzinsky, but she couldn't help relapsing every now and then. Marzinsky mainly focused on schizophrenia, and she did not really feel concerned with evil voices. I hope your articles will convince her further. I know it is too late for her to get back to who she was before Lithium, but hopefully your articles might help her stop this horrible poisoning for good... Thank you for what you do 🙏.
The umbrella term “mental health” includes bi-polar and schizophrenia, which can be life destroying, both for the individual and those around him/her. Medication seems to often bring relief (from the handful of people I’ve known suffering from one or the other). Having said that, I was fascinated to hear Dr. Christopher Palmer’s interview by Jordan Peterson in early 2024 describing how he had a new patient with frequent psychotic episodes (previous psychiatrists had unsuccessfully tried various meds) and in the process of trying to get him some relief from his weight gain from his meds, had him begin a Keto diet, only to have the patient’s psychotic episodes stop. I went on to read his book, Brain Energy. He literally stumbled into a new understanding of metabolic health and mental illness and was very careful to note the need for wide studies before making generalizations. I see he has now started a clinic to incorporate holistic mental health treatment: https://www.chrispalmermd.com/
One thing that goes in favor of the chemical imbalance theory would be MDMA experience. It alters your mood massively, positively at the time, followed by a mood crash for the days after (though I never personally experienced the downside).
The chemicals are doing something. Whether they work as claimed is a different question.
Fascinating work, but too many posts in a day. I then can’t read them or forget I saw the email. One a day is better as they are very very long. I have been a big reader all my life.
I disagree, if i don't have time to read them all in a day I just save them in a folder to read later. I find it bizarre the complaints people feel they just must vocalize, complaining about too much free and fascinating information from a very reputable source.
There were 3 more this morning. Deleted 2 as I had no interest. But that’s just me. A small gripe—the AI art is depressing. I’m an artist. I am annoyed by all of it everywhere, not just here. The shingles one is really interesting. I haven’t gotten those jabs either. I have saved this one in my files. Merry Christmas, Bandit. I think 2026 will be even better. 🙏🏻
I was thinking of going into illustration when I started college at an older age. But by 2003 I saw the future and art illustration (not digital) was a no go for me. It’s is still used in some areas like children’s books, etc. but job prospects for good illustration have dropped. I was older and one look at me, poof. No hire. Even in digital work. I ended up working at our library where I used digital and hand art. Plus many more of my other skills. It was my best job ever and I stayed past retirement age. I paint plein air 4 seasons here in northern Illinois. Its challenging, I’m out in nature and makes me feel alive. I sell some but don’t push it. I like snow, actually. I love painting it.
It’s like that utterly ridiculous Kevin Costner move: Field of Nonsense; or whatever. Someone says: if you build it, they will come.!?#$?. Right.
And hence the very same with medical/Mental health (??) ..
Psychiatry in particular. A billion dollar industry; with possibly hundreds of labels/conditions/prognoses. And pharmaceutical products to go. The vile Swine at the top of this fraud, have access to the best materials, scriptwriters, gaslighters and assorted nefarious lackey’s imaginable.
It’s such a dystopian and egregious fantasy with no expense spared, as to be almost poetically believable.
I do often find myself, sort of, tipping my hat to the dark controllers who fund, maintain and perpetuate this machinery.
Imagine if this machine/apparatus went, even halfway, to functioning properly.?!!
Great read, as usual. All the evidence I needed to understand this jewish psudo science scheme was that sick, twisted, sex addicted, pedo named Freud, coming from Europe to the US on a ship he should have fallen overboard from.
"If Americans only knew that we were bringing them the plague" haha.
my mother was poisoned this way. in and out of the mental hospital for 20 long years. she was mainly evaluated and on a "chemical" level. it destroyed her whole body and she died younger than she should have imo.
In the ASD community kids are put on one SSRi and when that collapses another and another and another until you have a case like I have with a kid taking OVER 40 medications a day to make his body do all the things and despite conversations for years over and over with his PCP, specialists, the head of the hospital system and Dept of Health no one seems to be willing or able to untangle him from the drug weave.
And now he is in Stage 3 liver failure at age 19 which was a stated foreseeable conclusion when he was 11. And still nothing.
Taxpayers are paying for this too for tons of kids.
This might be a bit off-topic, but your article raised a personal question for me. My husband suffers from tinnitus and severe chronic insomnia. He was referred to a psychiatrist who did nothing but prescribe him one drug after another—benzodiazepines, antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, and who knows what else.
Even at extremely high doses, nothing ever had any effect on him (except for a mouth rash with one of these medications), but mentally, he was completely unresponsive. So this whole business about a chemical imbalance seems to be a myth...

Good work. 👍
It means exactly what we know it means, alopathic medicine is an economic scam!

Good luck. Don't give up. Once off I felt so much better physically and mentally. Prayers for you.
I have read that intensive Vitamin C supplementation can address the withdrawal effects, specifically the “zaps”.
An excellent resource is Kevin Kirkpatrick’s stack: https://orthomolecularguy.substack.com/

Thanks for writing this.
When too many doctors do not care about following the Hippocratic Oath of “First Do No Harm,” it will not bode well for society: https://lizlasorte.substack.com/p/first-do-no-harm
I'm not sure ANY care about any oath at all. Maybe the oath they care about most is, "Show me the money."

So noted, Heidi. Happy New Year
🙌 I totally agree, Janet. They're well written and interesting, but overwhelming.

I delete the ones I'm not interested in, too.
If I were an artist, I think the AI stuff would bother me more than it does now.
I don't take any vaxxes.
Merry Christmas, Janet! Praying for '26 to be better!
