Unbekoming, you need to get this in front of Dr Chandler Marrs and her Hormones Matter site! You continue kicking serious academic ass with your posts!

This article has me feeling both seen and also just deeply saddened by what my body has endured. I am not sure what to do with this information now because I can’t turn back time but I guess knowing is half the battle, as they say.

People need to learn how to take care of their bodies and what they need to keep well. Mankind existed for thousands of years, before the medical industry came along... by simply eating natural food and getting sunshine and fresh air. If people had a modicum of common sense, they would not put toxic medication in their mouths or have toxic injections put questionable matter injected directly into their bloodstreams. My father raised five children in the 30s, 40s and 50s on very little food, sunshine , fresh air and lots of exercise. The only one gone...a brother that took the vax. I am active and healthy at 92, because I did my own health/nutrition research...and did not depend on those who needed to make a living promoting medical drugs and treatments.

For anyone else puzzled by the term "HC" used without definition throughout the essay: I'm assuming that stands for "Hormonal Contraception" mentioned in the title of Gilfarb's journal-published article. See Reference #3 and #4 in Unbekoming's post.

Upon reading the piece, I was reminded of a college-classmate in 1974 who I overheard ask a female classmate: "Did the pill screw you up emotionally?" I made a mental note of the remark. It influenced my decision NOT to take the birth control pill later. I already had problems with "high emotions" naturally w/o any medication, and figured I didn't need any unnecessary additional "stimulation".

thank you. i tried to find the definition in the article a few times, and gave up. as for BC pills in the 70s, you were wise. i tried them, began to cry every day, gained 10 lbs and got stretch marks. i felt so lousy i quit them after 3 months and never again.

now they're trying to push us all on HRT for the rest of our lives. right. can't have anyone not on their toxic meds.

Regarding depression - has there been a differentiation between HC users who are sexually active, and those who are not?

Sex without relationship/marriage is emotionally damaging in and of itself, particularly to young women. Their brains already respond to sex with an emotional attachment far greater than in men, which, with “casual” sex, would lead to increased depression, which in turn exacerbates harms by hormonal interventions.

And sex without marriage robs the act of the grace of the sacrament essential for the cosmic communion of persons and God designed to bring into existence another human being graced with a supernatural destiny.

Excellent! What have they been doing to our young women? It should be a no-brainer that you cannot mess with the intricacies of the reproductive system without serious consequences. Humanity must again learn to respect nature and work with it rather than attack it.

i never knew that ritalin suppressed growth in children. i think that happened to my brother many yrs ago, when the school convinced my parents to give him ritalin.

i don't know how long he was on it. maybe not too long. there is an early grade-school photo of him where he looks downed-out, strangely placid. and he did end up fairly short, to his great dismay as a boy and young man.

this phar-medico system is really sick.

I know someone on birth control + sertraline. She has trouble sleeping, feels hot all the time and eats either too much or too little

...and I have wondered what it was that prevented women from coming together as a force...
