Then, sooner or later, most likely sooner, as soon as one or a few people gain positions of power, the "mission" becomes the survival of the system. This creates a closed system, based on self-preservation and self-protection, which undermines the original purpose of the original mission. Some, if not many, corporations, like the medical ones developed and controlled by Rockefeller with his bribes, never had a healthy, positive mission to begin with. The mission was always about gaining more money and institutional power at the expense of those being used and manipulated.

And all the systems, whether religious, political, legal, or educational - all benefit from each other, so there is motivation to remain the same and no motivation for real change in a systemic way. We have observed everything you described in every organization we voluntarily or involuntarily joined (except marriage because we don’t tolerate or engage in lies). Volunteer organizations are particularly problematic. They begin small and altruistic. As they grow, power, lies / truth shading, and loss of mission occur.

Overall true. Although I once worked for an organization that was an exception for part of the workforce, the managerial class was closely vetted so that politics was completely eliminated. The kind of people that is part of a group ( or committee if you will) matters. In fact that is the only things that matters. The non-managerial class was a different beast though - you only get so many of the 'appropriate' people to go around...
Institutions as conceived by the author could not survive without a regime of coercion. Take any institutional example: the FDA, the AMA, the Bar Association, the Republican and Democratic parties, veterinarian practice, labor unions, pharmaceutical companies, medical schools and practice, universities, public schools, all of these and many more depend on coercive grants of privilege by the state.
This coercive support guarantees reform will fail. For reformers lack coercive power and face coercive attacks: censorship, punishment, taxation, regulation, and barriers of all kinds. Institutions exist only to advance and protect the narrow interests of their members.
Institutions have never been founded to promote the goals they publically brag about. The AMA consisted of doctors who wanted to coercively restrict competition by imposing licensing in order to attain higher incomes, as minutes from their early meetings prove. Labor unions got coercive privileges to restrict competition from other workers by enforcing picket lines with violence. Public schools were founded for the purpose expressed by Dewey and James to indoctrinate children with statist-collectivist ideas.
Under a regime of coercion, non-coercive organizations almost always promote the false ideological doctrines pushed by coercive institutions. If they were to challenge some version of institutional nonsense and lies that the public has been sold on, their donations will disappear. This is true even of organizations that brag about supporting freedom and rationality.
Abolish the coercion and institutions and organizations will become rational and responsive to new discoveries and ideas. If they do not behave rationally, their voluntary support will disappear.
