I think the entire vitamin-mineral gambit is completely turned inside out. When you see how most vitamins are constructed into pills, you get a much different sensation than what may be found in real food. And no I do not need iodine, magnesium or extra iron.
If anything, what the body requires is a trickle of a few items to keep its charge in balance. Artificially adding vits and mins into foods is a losers game. Foods, other than the highly processed variety, contain extremely complex molecules that provide with the body requires.
Medicine and science have no clue as to how the body really works as they are both part of a gigantic marketing scheme using drugs, vaccines and supplements to keep you off balance, out of sync, ill and diseased...all so they can hook you into their lifelong destruction machine...which you pay for through the teeth.
Mankind survived for eons of time without medicine, processed foods and supplements...Today many are not well and can't even conceive children.. It does show that our current health information is totally out of sync with the truth. My father raised five children without medicine, very little food and no supplements...He was totally into sunshine, fresh air and lots of exercise. None of us were ever seriously ill...and we had no health insurance.
Nothing in this discussion addresses research that would prove that the higher the blood value of the active form of Vitamin D, that the risk of disease states diminish. Is sunlight more complex and more effective in stimulating good health. My view, yes! There are studies that have determined that specific wave lengths of red light spectrum stimulate the pituitary gland for good health.
If you live in Alaska, you only have one choice. Take Vitamin D from it's synthetic form to boost blood value. There is a correlation between depression and suicide rates that indicate Vitamin D deficiency is a risk factor. Majority of Americans are D deficient due to life style issues.
PS: Recall reading about a women who was diagnosed with MS and spend her working career indoors under fluorescent lights. Decided to follow her dream, went to Colorado to a horse ranch high in the mountains, and broke horses. Lot's of sunshine and good exercise and good food. MS disappeared!
Did you listen or read the article? The vitamin D3 you buy, supplements, are rat poison… you’re saying you need to take rat poison to survive in Alaska, do you know how dumb that sounds? Inuit people lived in the arctic for centuries, all perfectly healthy… probably has a lot to do with the fact they ate carnivore diets. Rest assured, it had nothing to do with getting enough rat poison
I take 5000 iu's of rat poison daily and have a blood value of 70 ng's. They are over stating the issue. Sunshine is better, but you have to use common sense.
I think it's a matter of how MUCH rat poison/Vit D3 you take. It's synthetic in a bottle, yes, but too high a level of it is obviously bad (ie kills the rats). A lower level of it is...tolerable. Like most things, there's a safe, or safer, limit.
Plenty of sunshine is obviously better, but sunshine does not always = Vit D3 in your body, depending on how your calcium levels are, right? But sunshine is useful for other things, too. However, if you're not getting enough sunshine in your life, then you'd need to supplement your diet with D3, or better yet, change your diet (eg lots of fish/carnivore diet like the Inuits).
But off the top of my head, I'm not sure how 'healthy' the Inuits were. I do know they have a much higher incidence than the average population of spondylolistheses (usually a fracture of the 5th lumbar vertebra across a section called the 'pars') in their kids, due to carrying them in a box on their backs. So skeletal problems ARE a problem for Inuits. So, is it diet/lack of sunshine leading to bone problems, or is it putting the kids onto a hard surface too early, or a combo?
Any which way, I've been wondering about the Vit D3 thing - is it truly rat poison or is it just too high a level in the bait and small amounts of the synthetic substance are actually tolerable for the body? I think a lot of it comes down to not getting enough sunshine for starters, and not taking too much D3, either, and making sure your calcium/phosphorus levels and ratios are adequate. Things are rarely so simple at the biochemistry level, I've found!
So yeah, maybe we don't need to take a pile of vitamins/supplements. Ones ground only from actual herbs or plants, not 'extracts', should be fine. But once you start taking heaps of things with fillers galore in them, they're probably a bit pointless, and may even lead to problems over time. A GOOD diet for your body, plus good water, along with enough sunshine & the right exercise for your body, and enough sleep, are paramount. Problem is, so few people get all that right! They think what the 'average' person needs is right for them. But they could need a lot more of something, or a lot less, but they don't stop to listen to their body to figure this out.
There are very astute researchers who put the role of Vitamin D into the right perspective and don't scare people out of supplementing to erase the D deficiency.
I wrote an article, available on my Substack, discussing the widespread issue of Vitamin D deficiency today. I also recommend the book Vitamin D and the Great Biological Reset by Dr. Grimes and Dr. Anderson. For medical students, I recommend The Impact of Vitamin D on Health and Disease Beyond the Bones by Rehana Rehman and Faiza Alam.
Also, the majority of Alaskans are not Intuits and are severely deficient in D! A legislator I knew tried to get a bill passed to have Alaskans tested to a defiency. Sadly the opposition won!
You can not bottle sunshine, and when you have a blood deficiency you only have one choice. I take it to keep my blood level of D around 70 ng's. Most Americans have half that value in their blood. All should have a blood value of 50 ng's or more for good health.
Recently, after I was diagnosed with dry macular degeneration in both eyes, I added certain vitamins back to my daily routine for the health of my eyes.
I also learned that sun-gazing at sunrise and sundown, is good for our eyes. So now I take a short walk during those times and call it my 'sun therapy.'
During the early covid hoax, authorities & celebrities warned everyone to stay indoors, stay home. They wanted to keep the healthy sunlight away from all of us.
If they were really worried about our health, they would have distributed free organic fruits and vegetables.
.....a LOT of people understandably DON'T want to HEAR it, but - VERY soon (within NEXT decade) will be exceedingly DANGEROUS to be exposed to sunlight for even MINOR durations (say, an HOUR) as the Earth's electromagnetic field weakens to SUCH an extent that there is LITTLE protection against ultraviolet-spectrum damage, PROFOUND biological compromises by HIGH-density PROTON (threat of irreversible ACIDOSIS) electron streams, COMBINATIONS of same as well as OTHER space-originating radiation / charged particles, plasma discharges and LOSS of ability to synthesize INFRARED for maintenance of material COHERENCE (organic, artificial ALIKE - meaning, the END of AIR travel may be NEAR).....it's a CRUCIAL conversation I'm PREPARING (best as possible) to START.....
If you wear sunglasses you'll be affected badly. They stop your eyes from sending your skin chemicles to protect you naturally. Works I found out since I stopped wearing them.
Ohhhh, can tell you as someone that has THOROUGHLY researched these concerns for DECADES; identified my OWN comprehensive SYNERGISTIC pathology model - as MUCH as I wish they WEREN'T (as STANDING to be affected JUST as adversely by them) are 100% correct - and I've consequently amassed 300+ substantiating papers; GEOLOGICAL record of recurring SOLAR micronovaic isotopes, hydrogen-to-helium ratios and mineral vitrification is INDISPUTABLE - such cataclysmic effects INDEED occur approximately every 12,000 years - TIME to wake UP; planet's EMF is now MULTI-NODAL (rather than DIPOLAR) due TO just such FUNDAMENTAL ecosystemic losses / deterioration - and our lives AS we've known them, WILL be altered beyond RECOGNITION by NO later than 2050.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx1KmbiJq9A
I am 67 years old. I live in Vermont, 6-ft, 193-lbs, 7% body fat, 125/80 bp, 60 bpm HR. I work out almost daily (~30 minutes max), I eat real food, no consistent junk food, I take no pharmaceuticals, and I have been taking the StarPower Vitamin D formulation every day for twenty-three years, beginning at age 44.
I recently had a comprehensive blood draw through Labcorp that included a complete blood count with differential, a comprehensive metabolic panel, hemoglobin A1c, testosterone, prostate-specific antigen (PSA), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), and a full urinalysis. The same blood draw also measured my serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D level. I then analyzed these results against established biomarkers of biological aging.
The estimate that came back stopped me in my tracks.
Based on the available markers — weighted against the peer-reviewed literature on blood-based aging biomarkers — my estimated biological age is approximately 51 years, against a chronological age of 67. That is a gap of roughly 16 years.
From the Book the Sunlight Solution. Dr William F Supple
It is hard to argue with obvious success. I looked up StarPower. The pill contains 600 mg of Ca Carbonate. Yet everywhere I hear that that form of Ca is no good for us. Also I've been reading for years how if you take Vit D and-or Ca in any form you need something called Vitamin K (MK-7 version). Also, that if we take Ca we need Magnesium. Arrrgh. It's all too much for me.
What am I to think. Congrats on your good health in any case! Maybe it's in spite of, rather than because of, your taking StarPower? Just a suggestion, don't get mad at me for asking.
I’m new to your Substack and will subscribe. Thanks for your research and writing to expose this and so many other lies we have been told. I’m very curious about the vitamin and supplement industry and how many other things we take that don’t help but may even harm us. Truth be told, I am very concerned, yeah maybe even scared.
It's nice to say "get it from your diet, water, air. " Have you [ whoever says this ] been in a basement for the last 20 years? Our food is depleted from up to 85% of its original intended nutrients. The water is polluted with unimaginable filth and poison - ditto for the air. THAT is real problem and yet I rarely hear it mentioned. Probably because it reveals the absolute hopelessness of the situation - the reality of which doesn't make for very interesting articles.
This is where individuality plays a role. Natural sources always preferred but not always practical. Recently, we had a lot of rain, then traveled to a part of the country where it was rainy season. Two weeks of this, a small patch of psoriasis appeared on my face. The sun came out, some exposure did the trick. Where I live, winters are gray. Supplemental D is slower to respond but still effective. Psoriasis all over my face, versus vitamin D supplements in the winter. I know which one I will choose.
Lupus patients are told to stay out of the sun if possible, always wear sunscreen, hats & UV protective clothing. UV rays will cause a "flare" with Lupus. I take Vit D supplement to keep my levels around 85 .
But, how Much sunlight ? We live in TX, it's 100 many days in the summer. My spouse likes to sunbathe and I'm afraid he's getting too much . I, on the other hand, only tolerate heat in the early morning on early evening. Anyone have thoughts ?

Barbara - I remember drinking out of the garden hose in the yard while playing with siblings and friends during the summer.
We all made it through childhood somehow without wearing a face mask to shield us from the germs in the air. We weren't afraid to live.
Modus Operandi Fear feeds the Medical Industry... and has lowered the health of many in our country.
Crixcyon! 1,000% agree here! Vitamins are simply pharma trying to sell people dog shit under the guise of “medicine” or “science.”
Still pharma snakeoil: https://unorthodoxy.substack.com/p/the-truth-about-vitamins-synthetic
Crixcyon - Right On!!
Is that why they suggest taking K2 ? Saying that it directs calcium to bone rather than arteries, etc (supposedly…)
Just so hard to know what to believe anymore :-(

Also, the majority of Alaskans are not Intuits and are severely deficient in D! A legislator I knew tried to get a bill passed to have Alaskans tested to a defiency. Sadly the opposition won!
Thomas, are you saying that synthetic vitamin D has value?
Just asking for my personal information, not being critical.

Bottled Sunshine, a good name for a racehorse.
Wow, shill alert

Bill - I also quit wearing my sunglasses (except on a long daytime road trip). I recently read that like you said, they block the rays we need.
You're cool Suzie that what I understand myself. Love your replies; thank you 🫶
The old cowboys didn't have sunglasses. They seemed to do well out in wild west.
Who pays you to type this B.S. if you’re going to make claims like this you have to offer some proof.

So your version of truth is a couple of YouTube videos? Sorry, that doesn’t cut it.
So, I am blindly poisoning myself because I blindly trusted a group of folks that just want money. Great!!
Trust is overrated
Excellent history lesson. Reflects my own experience with too much vitamin D.

yeah. understood. most people too stupid to read stuff Drs have spent 20’plus years studying.
