I recently had to take someone to the ER due to a fall 9 feet off a ladder onto concrete, resulting in a hairline rib fx and a complete rib fx. I will be substacking when I get a chance on one, the corrupt ER experience, and secondly, on the very rapid recovery which includes topical DMSO. The Jacobs brand mentioned in this post has a glass bottle option. The DMSO store link has DMSO in plastic containers. I use Dr. Morans brand which comes in amber glass. At 65 degrees F. 99.9 % DMSO should solidify.

I applied DMSO gel to my son's back - he had eczema all over - and it is completely healed and gone!

LB's avatar

UPDATE: I have to leave another testimonial about DMSO because it’s truly amazing. I had previously shared how it completely healed my son’s eczema (see above), but something happened that I need to share.

Earlier this week, I accidentally spilled boiling water on my arm- while making hot chocolate. Even though I was wearing a sweater, the burn was pretty bad. I remembered reading about someone using DMSO for burns, so I quickly grabbed the DMSO with aloe that I had used for my son and applied it to the burns. After that, I added pure aloe on top.

At first, it was extremely painful, and blisters were starting to form. But by the next morning the pain was completely gone, the blisters and redness disappeared, and my arm was totally healed. This stuff is nothing short of a miracle!

Thank you so much for spreading the word about this amazing product!

Helen Seymour's avatar

I had exactly the same result.

It is like a miracle.

DMSO on its own healed the eczema? This is confusing. These articles are all confusing. Because on the one hand we're told DMSO is a solvent, a carrier, but it seems to be used on its own for multiple things. I have no idea what the mechanism of action of DMSO would be to cure eczema. As someone who's dealt with eczema for decades, I would love for anyone to shed light on this.

Robert Yoho, MD's avatar

A thousand case reports become clinical fact. Do not sweat over mechanisms.

Do you follow and read The Forgotten Side of Medicine? Well worth it.

Pertinent Chatter's avatar

Hi Amy, yes I follow AMD. Wonderful resource! As is this one.

Caralee Lacie's avatar

Sulphur is a crucial nutrient for healing eczema. DMSO is one way to get sulphur that may otherwise be lacking in the diet.

Kerri's avatar

How about you can try it for yourself, come back and tell us your results.

Helen Seymour's avatar

Just a guess as I am not a professional,

as it reduces inflammation,

I believe it then aids healing.

Bob's avatar

Why worry about the why? Use it for the results

I know too many people who think why, refuse to use it (and a lot of other repurposed drugs) and never heal themselves

When the pain ends, the healing begins.

Is there a place where I can buy this in print?

I am new to DMSO. I am still learning to use it, original goal to help my son’s chronic tendinitis in his knee from a basketball injury 2 years ago. He has completed all PT and continues with the stretching but is not 100%, his goal. Does not want surgery if he can avoid it. In the mean time he had a severe contusion on his forearm from a helmet hitting it. The pain was so bad he thought it was broke. I put a DMSO cream with arnica, and he felt immediate relief and the large red welt disappeared within an hour! He did not even bruise or have to retreat.

Every mother of a boy needs this in the house. Wish I had this 29 years ago!

ForgeOn!'s avatar

Good Day, Gerri.....That is an awesome experience you had with arnica & DMSO. I love both arnica & DMSO. They are both authentic, real medicine. Another miracle substance is pure, organic castor oil in glass bottles. Slather the entire area & cover with clean cotton cloth. (Careful, as castor oil does stain) It will also work well with the DMSO, as the DMSO will take the castor oil deeper. I used castor oil on my severely sprained ankle (thought I had broken it!) slathered it on, wrapped with clean cloth, then wrapped with ACE bandage. At bed time, I reapplied oil, wrapped & put on a clean cotton sock. Took much of the pain away so I could sleep. By morning, ankle was about 80% improved. Completely healed within a week or so. (I did not have any DMSO at the time or I would have included it in the treatment) Best to you and your son!

Why are dosages not mentioned? Just supposed to wing it? Or only take topically? Or is it mentioned somewhere and I am just blind?

Robert Yoho, MD's avatar

Oral doses vary from a few drops to a teaspoon to a tablespoon five to six days a week. It is the best treatment I have tried, and I've tried a lot. Kills inflammation of all kinds.

Steve Thomas's avatar

I've been taking Fenben & Ivermectin with 1 tablespoon of DMSO for almost a year. Aggressive B cell lymphoma has reduced to non-aggressive! PTL!!

Poppy's avatar

if its not working should one increase? I have been taking 2 teaspoons per day. 1 in morning 1 at night. Have experienced some relief. But not what is claimed in articles. Should i increase?

RedHeadDo's avatar

If you haven't read it, consider the book, Healing with DMSO by Amandha Vollmer. She's good at simply explaining some of the chemistry behind DMSO. She also has some good protocol on how to use it orally and topically.

A lot of pain can come from inflammation and inflammation can be partly caused by diet, especially wheat and sugar. I found that removing that from my diet helped, but not nearly enough. Once I started taking 1 tsp of DMSO 99.99 percent in 5oz of reverse osmosis water every morning... chronic back pain gone.

Bren Logan's avatar

Which brand do you use? Does the oral dose of 99.9% not burn your esophagus like it does applying straight to skin? How long did you take it to get back relief?

Steve Thomas's avatar

DMSO doesn't burn, and I take a 1/2 glass of water with a tablespoon-- (started 1/27/25 and take Fenbenzadole & Ivermectin daily.) B cell lymphomas tumors have substantially reduced.

RedHeadDo's avatar

Hi Bren! I use the brand from The DMSO Store. You can order direct from Florida or its available of Amazon. https://dmsostore.com/ The price is about the same, I think it ships a little faster if ordered on Amazon.

I use 1 teaspoon in 5 Oz of distilled or reverse osmosis water. Never use metal, use glass for drinking and measuring. Some hard plastics are ok too. You can get details in Ahmanda Vollmers DMSO Handbook, she's very knowledgeable.

When using on the skin, DMSO should be diluted to at least 50/50. You can use distilled water or pure Aloe Vera. The DMSO store carries Aloe at a reasonable price. Their dilution is 70/30 with a choice of aloe or water, a bit too strong. It's cheaper to dilute your own. Don't forget to use on clean skin, its transdermal and you dont want to have any toxins from deodorant or soap penetrate. However, the transdermal effect is there for about 30 minutes and you can use something like CBD cream with it.

As far as how quickly it works… I think it depends on the person. For me, within minutes I had relief from long term issues. If you contine to aggravate the same location on your body with some task your doing every day, adding insult to injury… I find it a bit harder to get relief. I also seem to have some sort of half life with it. If I dont take it for a few days it still seems to be working. It's truly been such a help.

You also need to take a day off once a week or a couple days off in a row during the month so your body can fully metabolize any residual.

I generally do mon-fri and take the weekend off so I dont stink around people. And you will stink. My husband and I try to do the same schedule so we can tolerate each other. LOL I've been told it smells a bit like a stale refrigerator. And it tastes terrible, but so worth it! Really, get The DMSO handbook by Vollmer, she has details and protocols. She also has livestreams on topics about using DMSO. Sign up for her newsletter and you'll be notified when.

Good Luck!

Awaken, Arise Anew's avatar

Thank you for the details, it really helps. I cannot recommend A Vollmer book, I was ready to use DMSO and after reading her book was so confused I was afraid to try it. different strokes I guess.

Steve Thomas's avatar

What are you taking with DMSO-- it is a nano carrier and it carries drugs to cancer.

Steve Thomas's avatar

1 tablespoon with 1/2 glass of water for a year now-- positive results.

Poppy's avatar

I agree i am kind of at a loss on oral dosages For chronic whole body pain Wish i could find more info

Yummy.doctor blog discusses it in detail on her videos. Also she has a book “Healing with DMSO” , Amandha Vollmer, she sells it and so does Amazon She has great recipes in her book for lots of issues.

I learned about DMSO from A Midwestern Doctor, and decided to try it on my indolent CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia), which has been in the same narrow range of 12-15.9 for 8 years. After taking 15ml daily for 2 months, it has lowered my lymphocyte count by 25%, from 14.5 to 10.9. (Normal lymphocyte range is 1.2-4.8). Pretty impressive! I'm going to continue with the DMSO to see what it can do in the next several months.

Patty-thank u so much for your response! I'm still on the fence about this, but I think it has been the negative (pharm paid) press.

So I will def take time to explore.

We bought the book Healing with DMSO by Amanda Vollmer to get started with understanding dosages. Generally you start out with a more diluted dose, and increase over days to ensure no allergic reactions on skin.

Yes, some winging it, but this author offers great guidance.

We also mined info from the comments section on all the Midwestern Doctor’s posts, which has lots of great feedback and antidotes contained in them.

Definitely worth paying for his subscription IMO.

For many years I have had dozens of hard raised dry skin keratoses on my legs a few millimeters across that nothing removed, they would always grow back as hard raised plaques of clear or white calloused skin that I could scratch off with my thumbnail until they grew back again in a few days, but swallowing a little olive oil to prevent irritating drying effects affecting the 'valves' in the throat and stomach then taking just 5 ml DMSO mixed with an inch of orange juice or milk in the bottom of a mug, then repeating rinsing the mug with more juice or milk a couple of times to wash all the remaining DMSO out of the mug has successfully, for the very first time after many years of trying other things, proved to be able to totally eradicate all of these dozens of keratoses from my legs very suddenly at one go while dramatically improving my circulation in my legs which now look much more youthful in complexion and colour as does the rest of the skin all over my body, I suddenly look a good number of years younger actually.

I still get keratoses on my scalp, so as my circulation improves further with DMSO (a few weeks ago I also recently started to use 500 mg of calcium disodium EDTA every morning in a little hot water on an empty stomach first thing too, and sometimes also 5 ml of pure gum spirits turpentine mixed with the DMSO, then supplementing with minerals later in the day), I look forward to seeing this effect work its way all the way up my body to the top of my head to permanently remove all keratoses there too.

A tip on cancerous moles you may find useful:

I had a obviously (pre?)cancerous mole that was over a centimeter, very irregular-shaped that suddenly appeared, was multicoloured, part dark purple, part dark brown, and very uneven and actually bubbly in texture, and I applied neat thuja essential oil to this and a couple of inches around it and in just two days, it dried up and flaked off, no skin cancer, absolutely astonishing, some weeks later a little spot reappeared, and I applied a few more dabs of neat (pure undiluted) thuja essential oil to this, let it sink in, and it has never come back, and the skin there now is completely normal without any scar or mark, which beats having the 'health' service doing a song and dance and excising several lymph glands out of my arm and excising a huge several inch-long and inch wide strip of flesh around the site of the lesion which is the standard surgical procedure used on such cancerous moles.

But be very careful with thuja oil though, it is known to be neurotoxic and to be able to cause or exacerbate epilepsy in some individuals, so do not slather this stuff on liberally over large areas, use just a little on and around the lesion to see how your nervous system handles it, keep it well away from your eyes too I was advised by the retailer, just use it in the area around one lesion at a time to minimize the amount applied. I actually used several coats the first time with no ill-effect.

Some alternative therapists are over cautious and say to only use thuja oil very heavily diluted, but I do not think the same dramatic immediate effects would become evident if the measure of dilution that some propose is used, like dilution by 200 times in carrier oil for instance, so just rub an inch or two patch of neat essential thuja oil around a dangerous looking mole and it will hopefully dry up and flake off in just a couple of days like mine did, but please do not operate any machinery or ride a bike or drive a car etc. for a week after using neat thuja oil, just to make sure you are safe.

It does not appear to work at all on normal moles though, strangely enough, which seem to remain undiminished by it, on me at least, and there may also be certain types of pre-cancerous or cancerous mole-like lesions that thuja may not work on at all, but it was certainly effective on the type of lesion I have had a very long time ago, which was very irregular in its outer margin and surface topography, being very bubbly purple and brown in different parts and growing very suddenly over a centimetre in size out of nowhere at an extremely rapid pace, heavily indicative of malignancy.

I bought a bottle of 99.9% DMSO months ago and I have been reading about it. I recently wore a shoe that was rather new and it caused me a blister on the back of my ankle. I am an avid dog walker, so I put a Band-Aid on it and took off. We walk 3 to 4 miles a day. I did some yardwork as well and thought I was keeping it clean, but it got worse and I could tell it was inflamed. I did 50% castor oil 50% DMSO and had no problem and the next night it was aching in bed so I used 100% DMSO and it is so much better it will be completely healed. I would say in about two days. I’m looking forward to my next DMO adventure. This stuff is amazing and the reason is because God gave us everything we need. Thank you for this article.

DMSO smells so nasty though

lol - yes & it’s taste is not much better.. I add 1 tbsp of DMSO to mango or orange juice with a little water. Also add MB, magnesium, zinc, iodine & emergen-C. In the morning & evening. Best of luck & merry Christmas 🎄✌️🙏

Lisa Nash's avatar

Is this a special DMSO for internal use or just any DMSO?

alewifey's avatar

DMSO is just dimethyl sulfoxide; there aren't different versions of it.

Darlene Burmania's avatar

Look for 99.99 pharma grade

Gerri's avatar

The smell is much more mild than I expected, barely noticeable, only to the user.

alewifey's avatar

You must be blessed with lack of sensitivity to that type of olfactory stimulus. When I've used DMSO to give medicine to food-shy horses transdermally, my hands smell like eeeeehhhhh for hours afterwards. Can't imagine drinking it 🫥
