I can't believe how many people taking prescription drugs never even bother to ask for or read the product insert. I believe in most cases it is automatically included with each dispensed drug, but it's in tiny, legalese print. Your PDFs make the language understandable and, frankly, quite frightening. Thank you for including them for free subscribers.
I think most people think that the warnings and / or side effects are legally required to be included on the inserts but that the odds of having a bad reaction are rare. The doctor often claims the particular drug is quite safe, and then most people will accept the prescription because doctors know best, right? 🙄
If only people (doctors included) understood how much manipulation goes into so-called studies and marketing.
And it's less likely they'll read a drug insert today because they no longer print out the summary--which used to be at least a pretty good lengthy summary (compared to the Va<>ine Summary sheets they give for va<>ines at the Pediatrician apptments). I noticed a year or two before covid-19 my pharmacy stopped including it in the thyroid med I used to take. At least then I'd hold onto it and ocassionally read over it. The info truly does typically get read and absorbed into no real risk. I think because the person has no option take it so there's some mental gymnastics going on--per the doctor. It may be needed for life. Condition is "irreversible" we're told.
According to a pharmacist i just spoke with, now people just get a QR code. And get this, the little colorful labels they used do place on the prescription bottles, go right in the trash today. This is not just one pharmacy. It seems to be across the board. Pharmacists are so overworked and put in extra hours, every second counts and their managers train them to do this. It's unsettling to say the least to ethical pharmacists who get pushback when they want to continue the old way and give the proper warnings to customers. There are other things going on which should me malpractice if you will which allow for all types of errors putting customers at risk of getting the wrong dose or prescription. They should be on high alert and double check any prescription. It's as if no one cares and it's
Cheryl, I think each of us should take the time to speak to the pharmacist whenever we get an Rx if the product insert isn't included with our paperwork. If pharmacists start to see people asking for their time, maybe they will reconsider discarding labels and deleting the product insert info.
I personally would not use drugs or even want to go to a doctor. I am aware that nothing belongs in the human bloodstream, except nutrients from unprocessed food. Mankind lived for eons of time on natural food, before the Medical Industry came along. . However, i am forwarding this on to many I know who have total trust in their doctors and prescription drugs.. .
that is worth a download.. I am very familiar w/ those and usually take quick read on the package inserts.. and wonder how much it cost to produce those packets.. in each damn prescription.
Back when I was on medications for my stomach even now OTC. those 20 page microdot print package inserts. CYA in case there "drug interactions" or other dire consequences: most of the time for me.. since I worked in Medicine those would go right in the trash or stay in the box.. sigh thank you
Thank you so much!! As others have said - most taking these medications likely have no idea of side affects!! I was reading through the GLP-1 info. I don't know how anyone would entertain taking them after reading this. I had a tooth pulled a month ago. I had a long wait in the waiting area and heard many phone calls come in. They asked everyone making an appt if they were on GLP-1 medications. It appears they can affect your teeth too :(

Unbekoming, have you done a package insert informational for Olanzapine/Zyprexa? If so, could you point me to where I could find it. My son is being made to take this antipsychotic for supposedly bipolar 1 disorder. He has gained at least 100 lbs. and his labs are awful.
