My experience with the starchy potato happened when I was going through puberty. My facial skin has always been oily. My mom said it looked like someone had applied butter to my face. Somewhere as a young teen, I had read that a thin slice of potato rubbed over my face after washing and before bed would help, so I tried it. Every night I applied potato juice to my face. I would wake with soft skin and no oily shine. I strongly suggest using it if an oily face or back with breakouts is a problem. Washing first, then rubbing the cut piece over the area produces amazing results!! You're welcome! Thank you for these stories. We need more natural remedies and less pharmaceutical intervention for some conditions. Love reading your articles. ♥️

Thanks for the potato advice. Maybe alternate it with salt water, maybe a tablespoon per quart of water as hot as can stand, put in finger or foot or apply to area. 20 minutes three times a day.

Also squashes work for this type of treatment, patty pan squash in particular. They pull, is all I know.

Quite bizarre really. When technically the potato is a mild poison. The Inca Indians tried to poison the Spanish Conquistadors, several hundreds of years ago, by introducing them to quick boiled potatoes ( they themselves used to boil them for days, and eat occasionally).

A member of the Nightshade family (aubergines, tomatoes potatoes etc). Nightshade would grow prolifically around the bottom of the Gallows; when there was a lot of hanging back in the day. Thrived on bodily fluids, it would seem. And, the connotations with Witchery, and the ‘dark side’ generally, adds to the intrigue.

Does anyone know if hot/ cold therapy and potato poultice would help break down scar tissue in quad muscles (approx 6 years old)? I wonder if the therapy couldn’t penetrate deep enough, through many layers of tissue, or if the principles might not apply to adhesions. If not, is there anything that would, aside from extremely painful deep tissue “massage” (more like torture)?

Thank you - I read AMD and am using DMSO! Maybe using both together would be more effective.

I loved this article. My grandmother used potato for headaches!! I have Barbara O'Neill's books. Its

a blessing to us that she was banned from Australia.......It's our gain!

It worked for me as a child. Historic ear aches and uncontrolled fevers.

Very interesting article! I plan to make a potato poultice today! A cellulitis on my lower shin bone from a slip and slide down 3 wooden steps inside my house! The affected abrasion closed up and scabbed over almost immediately.. numb, painful, and swollen… ice initially, then hot epsom salt soaks, peroxide, and silvadene.. only slight improvement over 5 days.. time to try something else.. before I see my preventative medicine doctor .
