Kary Mullis, Nobel Prize winner for PCR and virologist Peter Duesburg spent much of their professional lives searching for an answer, and came to the same conclusion, that we prefer narrative correlation to scientific causation. It’s easier to remember, cheaper than double blind studies and a lot more profitable from R&D studies that will never find a cure.
